For full disclosure, I was really drunk during this one since it was our celebratory last Nic Cage movie. However, it’s about redneck convict Nic Cage with absolutely insane hair kidnapping a baby and trying to raise it with Holly Hunter because they can’t have a baby of their own. It’s got John Goodman crawling through sewage to break out of prison (Shawshank style), police officers endangering the public by firing guns excessively (at a white man, for once!) over a trivial crime, and a weird, Mad Max-esque biker dude who likes blowing rabbits up with grenades. If you want the kooky redneck storyline and cinematography of Wild At Heart paired with the lighthearted lessons about children of The Family Man, this is for you.
What even happened in this movie, anyway? All I remember is that the parents were so chill about the return of their fifth child that I'm convinced they were secretly disappointed to have it back.
Look, just because this movie didn't take place in some Hungarian dollhouse or New England prep school doesn't mean this wasn't just another supremely annoying Wes Anderson movie dressed in white trash couture.
I forgot to watch this movie in favor of getting blasted on cocktails.
If you want something bad enough, visualize it, see it in your mind, and then just reach out and take it! The Nic Cage movie that started a movement with The Power of Positive Thinking!
