Our Reviews:
This movie pairs up Nic Cage with Elijah Wood as two dirty Las Vegas cops who stumble onto what appears to be a perfect opportunity to burglarize the mystery contents of a massive vault built within a drug den. The heist goes sideways and moderate chaos ensues. The first half of the movie was really slow—particularly because Nic Cage is mostly playing his character in a subdued fashion (other than a scene in which he inexplicably slathers his nose with zinc oxide) and it’s mainly reconnaissance work, but the pace picks up during the actual heist. There is only one scene in which Nic Cage goes full Nic Cage, but it redeems an otherwise low-action movie.
Was Elijah Wood funny in this movie? I keep thinking he was funny in this movie for some reason. Why does Nic Cage play so many shitbird law enforcement roles? I genuinely can't keep any of them straight
Low expectations for this one, but it ends up being yet another great tale of Nic Cage as corrupt cop. This time he's not as classically sleazy as we've come to enjoy but more practical, and you know this because he immediately picks Elijah Wood as his heist partner to rip off a cartel, which is obviously the right choice because that guy once smuggled a piece of jewelry across a continent while monsters hunted him and he didn't even have to keister it.
Nic Cage is a corrupt cop who gets involved with drugs in an attempt to score big.
But this time, with Elijah Wood.
Two guys, one mob vault. Hijinks and a Nic Cage mustache ensue.
